Domestic Workers Minimum Wage increase

The Department of Labour announced the new mimimum wage rates for domestic workers that must be applied from 01 December 2011 to 30 November 2012. The Government Gazette that contains the new wage tables are available on www.info.gov.za (http://www.info.gov.za/view/DownloadFileAction?id=155472)

Remember that all domestic workers in South Africa must be registered with the Unemployment Insurance Fund and domestic employers must contribute 2% (1% deducted from the wage and 1% contributed by the employer) of their employees’ wages towards UIF.

If you make use of uFiling – the online facility for UIF submissions provided by the Department of Labour – you can pay an annual contribution instead of monthly and then simply submit your returns every month.
