May I run the Feb 2012 payroll run yet or is SARS going to be changing to an updated verion from e@syfile 5.0.9?

    Hi Kari

You may only submit your year end reconciliations once the filing season for PAYE is open and SARS released the official e@syFile version for 2011/2012 reconciliations. We expect the filing season to take place during April and May.

Great thanks for your prompt response Madelein

I presume I can continue with the Feb year end procedure i.e. producing IRP5’s etc as well as to roll over into the new tax year?

      Hi Kari

Yes, definitely! As long as you create a Copy Company during the Year End Update you can close off February to roll over into March. You will need the copy company when the filing season is open to generate your tax certificates and PAYE reconciliation. Remember that you can start preparing your tax certificates already but can only hand them out to employees once SARS accepted your reconciliation during the PAYE filing season.

      Hi Allison

After installing the 2012 Update 2b version from the disk you received from us or the download from our website, you can upgrade to 2013 Update 1 using one of the following methods:
      1. If you have an active internet connection on the PC where Pastel Payroll 2012 Update 2b is installed, our new Frictionless Update technology will be available. As soon as you open Pastel Payroll 2012 Update 2b, the system will check for new updates online and find that 2013 Update 1 is available. You will be prompted that new upgrades are available. Select Yes to allow the system to download and install the latest version for you. Once Pastel Payroll is upgraded, you will be able to acess your company data. Check the Help…About menu to confirm that the version is now 2013 Update 1.
      2. If you do not have an active internet connection on the PC where Pastel Payroll 2012 Update 2b is installed, you need to download the 2013 Update 1 upgrade from http://www.pastelpayroll.co.za and install the file on the machine where Pastel Payroll 2012 Update 2b is installed. This is the old method of installing upgrades and still requires a manual download and installation.

Either way, as soon as your current version displayed in Help…About is 2013 Update 1, you are processing your payroll on the latest legislation. Remember to run a Legislative Release in each of your companies to activate the latest tax rates and medical aid calculations.

Installed the 2012 update b, all was working well for 2 weeks, my pc then downloaded the 2013 udate, and things went horribly wrong. Ranging from .net framework issues, to registry issues. Now I receive this when trying to start Payroll: “The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program exists and that you have the correct upgrade patch.”

I am about 2 minutes away from deleting the entire Payroll program and investing in a more efficient payroll program. Every year I have major issues with Pastel Payroll updates when I can least afford it!!!! Sick and tired!

      Hi Daleen

I wish I could give you a quick answer on the spot, but we need to investigate your environment first to determine why the update installation behaved in this manner. One of our technical consultants will contact you shortly to assist you with resolving this issue.

    Thank you very much.
