  1. You Darn System is crap, this software program will be the cause of CCMA cases. How the Hell can this program back tax on salary which have been under ones usual tax bracket – if one have been on maternity??

      Hi Shavonne

I am not 100% sure of the details of your query, but in general, if an employee is to go on maternity leave and will earn less than the normal regular earnings during the leave period, it is highly possible that a tax refund will be calculated. If an inidviudal usually earns R20 000 per month, you will expect that the person will earn that amount for 12 months when you do an average tax calculation. The expected annual earnings is then R240 000 and this is used to determine the tax deduction. If the same person then goes on a 4 month unpaid maternity leave period, then the expected annual earnings will be less due to no remuneration earned for 4 months. The expected annual earnings is then R160 000 which translates into a lower tax bracket and a likely refund of taxes already deducted based on the marginal rate for the R240 000 bracket.

I have also asked one of our technical consultants to contact you to investigate and assist in this matter
